Poverty

UN Development Goal 1 is to Eradicate Extreme Poverty and Hunger
This goal has multiple targets:
1.A: Halving between 1990 and 2015, the proportion of people living in extreme poverty - on an income of less than 1.25 dollars a day
1.B: Achieving full and productive employment and decent work for all, including women and young people
1.C: Halving between 1990 and 2015 the Proportion of people who suffer from hunger

According to the world bank, 25.2% of Egyptians were in poverty in 2011.

Egypt has already achieved goal 1.A! This goal is only limited to extreme poverty, however.

Egypt has adopted pro-poor policies and achieved much economic growth.

The other two parts of the goal have not been achieved, however.

There are still major differences between geographical areas as well.
